UNITED WATER TOMS RIVER ISSUES REPORT ON DRINKING WATER

Toms River, NJ, July 19, 2001 -- United Water Toms River customers should have already received a mailed copy of the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) on drinking water quality. The report mandated by federal agencies, shows United Water continues to meet or surpass all state and federal regulations for safe drinking water. This report is an important tool in educating customers about the excellent quality of their tap water.

United Water has always made its test results available to customers upon request. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) mandate that water companies issue a report of this type by July 1.

The EPA/NJDEP rule mandates the content of the report. For example, any detected contaminant must be listed even though it is detected within the limits of the regulation. A contaminant may be a naturally occurring or man-made substance.There is also required language for specific health effects, bottled water and detected substances.
