United Water Lambertville Issues Report On Drinking Water

Lambertville, NJ, July 2, 2000 --  United Water Lambertville customers should be on the look out for the Annual Water Quality Report on drinking water. The report, mandated by federal agencies, shows that the company's water is actually better than the government requirements.

"We're pleased to advise our customers that our water continues to meet or surpass all state and federal regulations for safe drinking water," said Joe D'Angelo, vice president. "We believe this report is an important tool in educating our customers about the excellent quality of their tap water."

United Water has always made its test results available to customers upon request. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) mandate that water companies issue a report of this type by July 01.

D'Angelo explained that the EPA/NJDEP rule mandates the content of the report. For example, any detected contaminant must be listed even though it is detected within the limits of the regulation. A contaminant may be a naturally occurring or man-made substance. There is also required language for specific health effects, bottled water and detected substances.

This year, the report's content has been expanded. Subtitles direct readers to specific categories. The drinking water quality table more clearly states the testing results and the definitions for various substances and measurements have been enhanced.

"We have tried to keep our report as customer friendly as possible given the complex requirements," said D'Angelo. "The bottom line is that our water continues to meet
or surpass all the standards for health and safety. If customers have questions
