United Water Rhode Island was founded in 1887, with the intent of furnishing water to the Town of South Kingstown and neighboring communities. Presently, United Water Rhode Island provides water to approximately 50 percent of the combined populations of the Town of South Kingstown and the Town of Narragansett, either directly or through wholesale interconnections.
Our parent company, United Water provides water and wastewater services to 7 million people in the United States. In addition to owning and operating regulated utilities, United Water Resources operates municipal water and wastewater systems through public-private partnerships and contract agreements. United Water Resources is a subsidiary of Suez, a global leader in energy, water and waste services. United Water seeks to be the premier water services company in North America. The "premier" designation is never ours to claim or own. We earn it only through the eyes of our customers, our employees and the communities where we operate. And every day we must earn it all over again. Our corporate logo, the water star, symbolizes our mission to be premier. The individual drops represent what we strive to provide our customers--pure, clean water and stellar service.
United Water Rhode Island serves portions of the towns of South Kingstown and Narragansett. The service areas with direct connections in South Kingstown include the central portions of town including the Village of Peace Dale, and in a northerly direction along Route 1, to the Indian Lake Shores region. The service areas with direct connections in Narragansett include the central portions of town, extending southerly to the Scarborough Beach area, and northerly to the Bonnet Shores area. Also, through a wholesale connection in the Town of South Kingstown, water is provided for the town-owned Middlebridge Water System.
