United Water Pennsylvania's Spring Flushing Program To Begin

HARRISBURG, PA – March 24, 2003 – United Water Pennsylvania’s spring 2003 flushing program will begin on Monday, March 31, 2003, and will run for approximately ten weeks weather permitting. During periods of flushing some customers may experience temporary discoloration while working in their area. Flushing hydrants help to maintain the integrity of the distribution system by keeping the lines clean. It is also necessary for fire protection because flushing ensures that the hydrants are working properly.

“United Water’s flushing program helps ensure our customers receive the highest quality drinking water by preventing discoloration and helps maintain fire flows in the communities that we service,” says John Hollenbach, General Manager of United Water Pennsylvania.

United Water Pennsylvania regularly flushes hydrants in the spring and again in the fall. The hydrants in the townships served by United Water Pennsylvania will be flushed in the following order: Susquehanna Township; Hummelstown Borough; Middle Paxton Township; Swatara Township; Dauphin Borough; Marysville Borough; Rye Township; Lower Paxton Township; Paxtang Borough; Lower Swatara Township; Highspire Borough; Capital Campus Penn State – Lower Swatara Township; Penbrook Borough; Edgemont – Susquehanna Township. For more information about the flushing program, please call customer service at (717) 564-3662 or visit our website at www.unitedwater.com/uwpa.
