The supply source for United Water New Rochelle is surface
water that is purchased from the New York City Department of Environmental
Protection. We can pump based upon demand from five separate locations.
The three sources of New York City supply that we utilize include the

*Millions of gallons per day. At United Water we take great pride in our ability to provide you with drinking water that meets or surpasses all state and federal standards. We treat the water by adding chemicals to make the water potable and pleasing to the taste. The chemicals added to your water are:
The quality of your drinking water is constantly monitored -- before, during and after the treatment process. We also test the treated water in each community we serve and provide the results to the Westchester County Department of Health. United Water is required to sample our supplies for over 100 water quality parameters, including inorganic and organic chemicals, coliform bacteria, chlorine concentration and turbidity. We collect approximately 2,400 bacteriological samples per year from our sources of supply and distribution system. These samples are used to monitor the effectiveness of our disinfection process. All results were within regulatory requirements in 2007. For more detailed information see the section below on "Annual Water Quality Report". Please read more about the New York State Health Department's Safe Drinking Water Filtration Requirements. We take many steps to ensure the safety of both the raw water supply and the finished drinking water. However, we must be prepared for any emergency. There is a plan in place to notify you if a hazardous condition should arise in the water supply. The Westchester County Department of Health will use radio, TV, newspapers or mobile public address units to keep you informed. Poster and door-to-door written notices will be used when appropriate. You can also obtain information by calling United Water at 914 632 6900. United Water has published an Annual Water Supply Statement (AWSS) since 1997, as required by the New York State Department of Health. In 1999 the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) required water companies to issue a similar document and mail it to each customer. The EPA also requires us to make a good faith effort to contact non-bill paying water users, such as apartment dwellers. As a result, the report is available at libraries and at our office at 2525 Palmer Ave. New Rochelle. Our Annual Water Quality Report provides detailed information about your water quality. You can download a portable document format (pdf) of our report. To view or print, please download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
