BOIL WATER ADVISORY LIFTED FOR JERSEY CITY AND HOBOKEN Jersey City, NJ, November 5, 2002 United Water Jersey City officials today announced that the boil water advisory for customers in Jersey City and Hoboken was lifted at 4 p.m. by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Repairs to the 48-inch water transmission main, which ruptured on Sunday, November 3rd, were completed earlier in the day and the main was returned to service. Laboratory results showed that the water was free of bacteriological contamination since the boil water advisory was issued on Sunday. Customers were advised to boil water as a precautionary measure while United Water Jersey City conducted tests throughout the system and flushed hydrants throughout both cities to clear the discolored water. Test results from samples taken throughout the service territory were provided to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
