United Water Bethel Rate Increase Approved Increase was necessary to recover increased costs for purchased water expenses and water quality improvements WILMINGTON, DE, January 13, 2001 -- United Water Bethels request for a rate increase was approved by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) on January 11, 2001. Rates have been increased overall, to all classes of customers, by approximately 19.65%. An average bill for a residential customer who uses 18,000 gallons per quarter will now pay $69.33. "Over the
last few years, United Water has seen a dramatic increase in costs for
purchased water. The last increase took place in 1991, said Anthony
Langley, general manager for United Water. "The increase in rates
for water service is directly related to the rising cost of purchased
water and capital improvements to our water supply infrastructure."
