United Water Arkansas

Who we are

Howard S. Butcher III and W. Fredrick Spence founded United Water Arkansas as Arkansas Municipal Water Company in 1942. In 1945 we became part of General Water Works when it was formed by then President Howard S. Butcher III. At that time there were over 19 Arkansas water utilities owned by General Waterworks Corporation.

In 1994 General Waterworks merged with United Water Resources, which was founded as Hackensack Water Company in 1869.

This transaction made United Water one of the nations's largest investor owned water services companies.

United Water is a subsidiary of Suez, the world strongest water solutions group.

Our parent company, United Water provides water and wastewater services to 7 million people in the United States. In addition to owning and operating regulated utilities, United Water operates municipal water and wastewater systems through public-private partnerships and contract agreements.

United Water is a subsidiary of Suez, a global leader in energy, water and waste services.

United Water seeks to be the premier water services company in North America. The "premier" designation is never ours to claim or own. We earn it only through the eyes of our customers, our employees and the communities where we operate. And every day we must earn it all over again.
