About Your Water
United Water prides itself on meeting and exceeding all regulatory expectations for clean water.
A variety of treatment processes are used to purify the water from the various production wells within our system.
Chlorine is used to disinfect the water at all our wells and to ensure its quality as it travels to your home:
- In addition, at some locations where necessary, we adjust the pH to make the water less corrosive. This reduces the possibility of lead or copper in household plumbing from dissolving into the water.
- For iron treatment, we currently have four iron removal units located at Brookside, Holly, Windsor Parkway well stations.
2006, ion-exchange units were installed at our Whitesville and Parkway well stations to remove naturally occurring radionuclides. In addition, the company is in working diligently to install a third ion-exchange unit at its Berkeley well station.
The quality of your drinking water is constantly monitored -- before, during and after the treatment process.
We also test the treated water in each community we serve and provide the results to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
