About Your Water

At United Water Rhode Island, we take great pride in our ability to provide you with drinking water that meets or surpasses all federal and state standards.

United Water uses groundwater sources for all of its supply. Treatments used are chlorination, pH adjustment, corrosion control and aeration. There are six wells located in two well fields with a treatment facility in both well fields.

The utility has six active gravel packed wells, which are at depths of 45 feet to 100 feet, with capacity ranging from 400 gallons per minute (gpm) to 2,000 gpm, with a total available supply of nearly 7.5-MGD.

To further ensure the safety of your water, we

  • Monitor it before, during and after the treatment process
  • Take samples at our well fields and out in the distribution system to monitor the dosage of treatment chemicals and potential contaminants

We do this to be sure that your water remains safe as it travels through our mains and into your home.
