United Water experienced several power outages related to Hurricane Irene on the morning of August 28 in the following operational areas: Harrisburg (East Shore), Mechanicsburg (West Shore), Dallas (Back Mountain). United Water Pennsylvania is supplying donated water to the Extreme Makeover Home Edition project that is ongoing this week in Newberry Township. A crew consisting of four United Water technicians installed a special yard connection on Sunday evening to supply volunteers working on the project with water to be used for construction-related purposes.

United Water Pennsylvania today requested a net overall increase in rates of $2.8 million per year with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC). If approved by the PUC, the average monthly residential customer bill would increase by about 7 percent, or 8 cents per day, based on consumption of 4,000 gallons of water per month.
