Haverstraw Water Supply Project

Projections show that our customers water needs will outpace our existing water supply. That’s why the New York State Public Service Commission ordered United Water to have a new long-term water supply online by 2015.

After extensive study by a team of expert environmental engineers and scientists,  the Haverstraw Water Supply Project was determined to be the best all around solution for Rockland. It will purify water drawn from the Hudson River using a treatment process that includes reverse osmosis. It’s the same technology used by the U.S. armed forces, major cruise lines and bottled water companies.

Here in Rockland, a test facility has purified 40 million gallons of water and the results are excellent. The purified water meets or surpasses all government safe drinking water standards.
