    United Water New York officials are requesting customers to conserve water and cut back on outdoor usage during the continuing hot, dry summer. United Water New York reached a record demand of 47.2 million gallons on July 5 of this year and demand continues to be higher than average, reported Michael Pointing, general manager.

    Public Service Commission Grants United Water New York Rate Increase

    United Water officials announced today that the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) has approved a three-year rate plan for residential and commercial customers of United Water New York in Rockland and Orange Counties. The typical residential customer, using an average of 21,000 gallons of water per quarter, will see an average bill increase of $4.06 a month or approximately 13.5 cents per day in the first year of the plan, ending in a total of $12.97 per month or 43 cents per day in the third year.

    United Water Modifies Conservation Request

    United Water New York officials said that  this week’s storms delivered nearly an inch of rain and provided some relief to the parched area. As a result, the company is modifying its conservation request and asking customers in both Rockland and Bergen Counties to follow a scientific approach to watering their lawns. The company’s ET program, short for EvapoTranspiration, calculates the optimal amount of water the average lawn needs based on the day’s weather conditions.
