United Water announced that the Utility Workers Union of America Local 584 ratified a new contract with the company. Local 584 represents employees affiliated with United Water Delaware. The company provides water services to about 110,000 people in northern New Castle County.
“This is a fair and balanced agreement which addresses issues such as wages, benefits and retirement plan changes,” said Bob Iacullo, president of United Water. “The contract continues to provide United Water Delaware employees with one of the best wage and benefit packages in the industry. At the same time, it is sensitive to the concerns of the customers we serve and helps ensure the company’s long term stability.”
Iacullo noted that United Water is committed to the collective bargaining process. “The ratification of this contract demonstrates what can be achieved when both sides work to find constructive solutions to difficult issues,” he said.
He commended the employees who remained focused on their responsibilities to the customers they serve throughout the many months of negotiations. “I would also like to thank the bargaining team members. Their hard work helped us develop a contract that will serve everyone well in this rapidly changing marketplace,” said Iacullo. “As a company, we are focused on providing innovative water management solutions that improve the quality of life in the communities we serve. This new agreement will help us achieve our mission.”
