Shaping the Future
United Water supports educational programs that further environmental goals and help young people shape their futures.
We believe that the best way to sustain our water resources for future generations is to work with teachers and students in the schools—today.
School Visits
If you would like, a United Water representative can come to your school to do a presentation on the water treatment process. The video presentation and interactive activities are a great way to educate students about water and its related topics such as conservation or water quality. This program is free for all schools within the United Water New Jersey service area. A set curriculum has been established according to the grade and age of the students. Please contact us for more information or to schedule a date at 201.767.2868.
Project WET
Children learn by doing and United Water is proud to help children learn important lessons about water through fun “hands on” activities. That’s why we offer Project WET in our community. Water Education for Teachers, is a collection of innovative, water-related activities for grades K-12. Teachers who attend the United Water-sponsored workshop receive a Project WET curriculum activity guide that is correlated to the state curriculum standards. Contact us to learn how we’re making a splash with Project WET.
Incredible Edible Aquifer
This activity teaches students about the aquifer system by creating an “aquifer in a glass” using edible ingredients. Each ingredient added to the cup represents a different section of the aquifer giving students a solid understanding of groundwater and the structure of the aquifer. This hands-on experiment also teaches how pollution can get into groundwater and how our actions can impact our drinking water.
