Jersey City, NJ, Mar 31, 2010, 11:30PMDue to a main break on the Belleville Turnpike near the west bank of the Hackensack River on the outskirts of Jersey City, officials from United Water Jersey City have issued a boil water advisory for all customers in Jersey City. The boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Residents of Hoboken are not affected.All customers have to boil their water for one minute for the following: drinking, cooking or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets and all other consumption. Water does not have to be boiled for the following activities: showering, washing dishes or clothes. United Water crews are on site working to isolate the break. Currently customers throughout Jersey City may experience low pressure or no water. Some customers may also experience discolored water.We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to isolate and repair the main.We will update the website as further information becomes available.
