United Water and the city of Indianapolis were recently honored with two Platinum Peak Performance Awards from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA). The awards recognize the partnership’s contributions to environmental protection and the clean water community.
The City of Indianapolis’ Office of Sustainability and United Water have partnered to announce the 2010 recipients of the Green Infrastructure Grant Program. This year, $100,000 in funding was granted to organizations who utilized green infrastructure projects designed to improve water quality and reduce stormwater runoff. Mayor Greg Ballard also welcomed previous Green Infrastructure awardees, as well as guests attending the presentation, with opening remarks.
United Water, one of the leading providers of water and wastewater services in the nation, today announced it had reached agreement with the City of East Providence, RI, for a 10-year, design-build-operate (DBO) contract for the city’s wastewater collection and treatment facilities, which provide service to roughly two-thirds of East Providence’s 50,000 residents.
United Water announced today that the company has signed a new contract with the city of Indianapolis to manage the wastewater treatment facilities and sewage collection system. United Water, whose current contract ends December 31, 2007, has operated the Indianapolis facilities through a public-private partnership since 1994. The City County Council selected the firm for the new contract period following a competitive proposal process.
