A Rich Tradition of Reliability

In 1933, United Water Delaware, was founded as the Wilmington Suburban Water Company.

As the local population grew, so did the company.

Through the years, several small water systems were melded into the fold: Delaware Water Supply, Arden Water, New Castle County Water and the Delaware Water Corporation.

In 1948, another milestone was reached in an historic merger with General Waterworks Corporation.

In 1972, the Delaware Public Service Commission (DPSC) approved a merger between these systems to form one operating entity with physically interconnected facilities.

In 1994 United Water acquired General Waterworks and we  became United Water Delaware proudly reflecting the relationship with our parent company, and our sister companies throughout the nation.

Today, United Water is part of the global umbrella of companies within Suez Environnement, the international leader in water and waste services.

In 2008, United Water Delaware celebrated 75 years of connecting communities with clean, safe, reliable and affordable drinking water.

We are proud to have played an important role in the growth and development of our franchise area for almost a century.

And we look forward to providing you with the highest quality water and service for many years to come.
