Adopt-A-School

United Water values strong educational programs—and Adopt-A-School is only one of the ways we work to help build such programs.

Adopting a school puts our employees directly in touch with students who can benefit from our expertise, especially in the fields of science and the environment. At United Water Idaho, we’ve adopted a school district!

And by giving Boise area high school students real-world experience in the water industry, we can provide better one-on-one mentoring for students.

Internship Program

United Water Idaho’s internship program is designed for high school juniors who want valuable work experience, exposure to all facets of the water industry and guidance on how to enter the job market.

Three students selected through a competitive application process will:

  • Work in customer service, the data support group and the information technology group
  • Gain work experience, and learn about the water utility as a whole
  • Attend tours of well and plant facilities
  • Learn about protecting water quality and public health
  • Study the technology used in the water industry

The paid, nine-week internships require a high degree of commitment from the students for the duration of the program.

Interns must be incoming seniors from the United Water Idaho's service area, with a good attendance record and satisfactory grades.  Interested students must submit a written application, a recommendation from a teacher, and a signed parental consent.  Required application forms can be obtained from your school’s counseling office.
